About Us

Dave Osborn

Dave Osborn retired in December 2022 as the Chief Executive Officer of the VTX1 Companies, based in Raymondville, Texas. He is now a published author of two children’s books about his rescue dog, Piper, which have been published in multiple formats and languages, as well as a book on business leadership. A third children’s book about Piper is in development, as is his first fiction novel, a geopolitical thriller. Both new books are planned for publication in mid-to-late 2025. Mr. Osborn is a former Board Member and vice president of the Harlingen Country Club and is currently a member of the Texas Board of the American Dog Society. He is also a former Board Member of several industry boards during his professional career. Mr. Osborn received recognition for his leadership and achievements throughout his 50+ year professional career, including the Texas Telephone Association’s prestigious Neville Haynes Award in 2013 and 2022, as well as the National Telephone Cooperative Association’s Telecom Executive Certificate.

Mr. Osborn holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth. Mr. Osborn enjoys bird hunting in South Texas and offshore fishing and is an avid grill master. Another of Mr. Osborn’s favorite pastimes is sailing, and he holds both U.S. and International sailing certifications. Additionally, Mr. Osborn is a bluegrass music enthusiast and plays the piano, guitar, bass, and five-string banjo. Mr. Osborn resides in Harlingen, Texas, with his wife, Marilyn, and their rescue dog Piper. Two adult children and two grandsons reside in the greater Houston area.

Dave Osborn

As a retired technology chief executive officer, Dave is following a long-time passion for writing and has several projects in mind for future online and offline publications.  He also has a passion for dogs so be sure to look for more books about his adventures with Piper, his companion and rescue dog.

Dave is also on the Board of the American Dog Society.

Dave enjoys South Texas bird hunting and bay fishing and is an avid grill master.  Additionally, he is a bluegrass music fan and enjoys playing the piano, guitar, bass, and five-string banjo.  Another favorite pastime is sailing, and Dave holds both U.S. and International sailing certifications.
